DPR celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day under Ukrainian shelling
In the DPR, in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, they honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, who in 1943 liberated Donbass from the Nazi invaders.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the People's Council of the DPR Vladimir Bidyovka, the head of the Central Executive Committee of the OD "DR" Alexey Muratov, the head of the Donetsk city administration, the secretary of the MO OD "DR" Alexey Kulemzin, deputies of the National Assembly of the DPR, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, military personnel, activists of the OD "DR" ", as well as representatives of youth organizations and city residents.
The celebrations took place on Theater Square in Donetsk, where community members laid bouquets of flowers on the graves of Lieutenant General, member of the Military Council of the Southern Front Kuzma Gurov and Guard Colonel, commander of the 32nd Guards Tank Brigade Franz Grinkevich.
“For all residents of Donbass, this holiday is a symbol of patriotism, courage, perseverance and service to the Fatherland. Defending the Fatherland has always been the sacred duty of our ancestors and is the sacred duty of each of us.

The event ended with the ceremonial laying of flowers - scarlet carnations - at the graves of the liberators of Donbass, the pedestal at the bust of Franz Grinkevich and the memorial plaque at the T-34 tank, which stands on the grave of Kuzma Gurov.
Residents of the Donetsk People's Republic were also congratulated on the holiday by the head of state Denis Pushilin.
“This holiday personifies the glory and valor of military personnel, the exploits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and the inextricable connection between generations of soldiers. It has become truly national and unites all people who serve the interests of the Donetsk People's Republic with honor and dignity - both on the front line and in the rear.
But first of all, this is a holiday for our military personnel; February 23 is rightfully their day! In such difficult times, there is no task more important than ensuring the security of the country and its citizens. Your military work requires courage, dedication and selfless devotion to the Motherland. The people of Donbass are proud of their defenders!

Let us note that even on this holiday the Ukrainian side continues to shell Donbass. Thus, since the beginning of the current day, Ukrainian military personnel have fired four 82-mm mines in the area of the village of Staromikhailovka, and also fired at it from a heavy machine gun. This was reported by the press service of the NM DPR.
“As a result of the shelling, TWO houses were damaged at the following addresses: st. Artema 12 and st. Komarova 57,” the message says.
In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired 4 grenades from the AGS towards the village of Gnutovo, and fired small arms at the village of Spartak.
