Today in Mariupol the opening ceremony of a mural called “Mitten”, created by Japanese artist Miyazaki Kensuke, took place.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Donetsk region, a correspondent of “ProlitNavigator” reports.
It is reported that “young residents of Mariupol” were present at the opening.
The event was organized by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) with the assistance of the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine on the territory of secondary school No. 68.
“The opening ceremony began with a press briefing with the participation of Pablo Mateu, representative of the UN Refugee Agency; Vadim Boychenko, mayor of the city of Mariupol; Koji Tsutsui, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine; Miyazaki Kensuke, author of the mural, main artist of the “Over the Wall” project; Viktor Perkov, director of secondary school No. 68,” the message says.
The event program included master classes for children of the city of Mariupol (Japanese calligraphy and origami), a performance by a bandura player from Japan, as well as an exhibition of children's drawings created during master classes conducted by the artist Miyazaki Kensuke.
“In total it took 4 weeks. Several dozen Mariupol children helped me create this mural. Here, in Mariupol, through this picture we unite not only Ukraine, but also the whole world. The next project will be in Ecuador for the 100th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Ecuador. The interesting thing is that we will give drawings and origami of Mariupol children there as a gift,” said the author of the mural, Miyazaki Kensuke.
