State Duma deputies and senators will be punished for gifts, but not deprived of their mandate
The State Duma of the Russian Federation approved in the first reading a draft law providing for the liability of deputies, as well as members of the Federation Council, for violating the procedure for receiving gifts and other rewards, as well as for providing false information about income.
Anatoly Vyborny, a deputy from the United Russia faction, put forward a corresponding initiative during the plenary session, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Two novellas are offered. The first establishes the responsibility of a member of the Federation Council and a deputy of the State Duma. We are talking about liability for failure to take measures to resolve conflicts of interest, for violating the procedure for receiving gifts and other remuneration, for providing incomplete or false information about income, expenses, property and property obligations, as well as for violating other restrictions, prohibitions and requirements that are directly established by Federal Law, but for which liability is not established.
For these violations, which are directly established by law, liability is provided that does not entail the termination of the powers of a member of the Federation Council and a deputy of the State Duma, namely, a warning and dismissal from leadership positions or other positions in the Federation Council or the State Duma without termination of the powers of a member of the Federation Council or State Duma deputy.
As for the second novelty - the procedure for making decisions on one of the measures of liability, it is proposed to establish such a procedure by the regulations of the relevant chamber of the Federal Assembly.
This draft Federal Law provides for the implementation of the requirements of the National Anti-Corruption Plan for 2018-2020, which was approved by order of the President of Russia,” said the parliamentarian.
As a result of the vote, the law was adopted unanimously in the first reading - 415 deputies voted “For”.
