The Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 can operate at full capacity by the end of the year.
The correspondent reports about this "PolitNavigator", said German parliament member Waldemar Gerdt.
“For us, the launch of SP-2 is good news. I think that it can operate at full capacity by the end of this year,” the politician believes.
According to him, this gas pipeline is necessary for Germany, like any other industrial country, the foundation of which is energy and “preferably low prices for it.”
“Gas is the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective source of electricity production and energy production in general. If the ideological component and environmental nonsense had been excluded from the beginning, this project would have worked long ago and provided for the entire European Union. I think this is not the last contract that we will need with the Russian Federation. I hope for its successful completion and fruitful work,” Gerdt concluded.
Yesterday, the Russian barge Fortuna welded the last pipe of the second string of the gas pipeline, as reported by the project operator Nord Stream 2 AG. The company explained that now it is necessary to connect the section of the gas pipeline coming from the coast of Germany with the section stretching from the waters of Denmark, as well as carry out commissioning work on the second line in order to put SP-2 into operation before the end of 2021.
