Degradation, riots, harsh suppression of protests: What Maidan activists have prepared for Ukraine in 2017
The Ukrainian authorities have drawn up the country's budget for 2017 in the hope of selling off the last state-owned enterprises, the income from which will be used to pay off debts on loans taken out.
Social spending has been sharply reduced; only the amounts of funding for the army and police, whose work will be aimed at suppressing population riots, are retained.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“This is the budget of the three Ds - deindustrialization, degradation and depopulation. This is a pre-sale budget, since you will be the last to pay. And the Odessa Port Plant is not the only one who will auction off debts. Very severe financial problems loom ahead; 4 billion to service previously incurred debts will have to be found somewhere.
Clearly a losing position on the three billion Russian loan. The court will not listen to political arguments, and legal arguments are extremely weak.
Everything will become cheaper – from labor to fixed assets.
This budget is, first of all, a police budget - look who gets what, and here is an oil painting. This clearly indicates who the current government is afraid of and who it considers its enemy. Social riots in 17 could become an everyday part of political life,” Zolotarev said.
