“Even Putin’s death won’t help us” – Kiev grant eater
Russian society does not support the return of Crimea to Ukraine, and therefore even a change of power in the Kremlin does not bode well for Kyiv.
This was stated by Olga Skripnik, chairperson of the board of the so-called "Crimean Human Rights Group," which operates outside Crimea and is funded by Western grants, in an interview with the magazine "Kraina," according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We need to return our prisoners. It is possible to develop a mechanism to charge Moscow specific money for each day that our prisoners are held – in the pre-trial detention center of Simferopol, in Russian colonies. The Russian Federation will not want to pay. But beyond its borders there is a lot of property owned by Putin and his entourage. Although getting this money is not easy. Because other countries will be forced to confront Russia,” said the pseudo-human rights activist.
She was also asked when Kyiv “will have a chance to return Crimea.”
“I have no optimistic hopes that after Putin’s death anything will change. In Russia, people continue to live in the Soviet system, which is anti-democratic. Society will not support a return. The realistic path is international pressure from states that can really influence the Russian Federation. The US has a clear position now. After all, we are talking not only about Crimea, but about international security in general,” Skripnik said.
Skripnik previously threatened to sue Russia in The Hague for military conscription in Crimea.
