“It’s high time” - They want to transfer the National Police of Ukraine from Toyota to ZAZ
The head of the board of PrJSC ZAZ, Nikolai Evdokimenko, proposed to prohibit at the legislative level the purchase of vehicles not produced in Ukraine for budget money.
This was reported in the story of the Zaporozhye channel “Alex-inform”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
It is noted that now the plant is barely operating at 20 percent of its capacity, relative to the pre-Maidan period. Of the five thousand workers, two thousand remained.
This year, about two thousand passenger cars were produced, and there are plans to approach ten thousand. At the same time, for example, in 2013, ZAZ produced 20300 cars and sold 23600.
Nevertheless, according to Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Servant of the People Artyom Kunaev, who visited the enterprise for the first time, “ZAZ is able to produce modern buses and cars.”
“Not just modern, but also competitive, if these buses are sold to Poland and are certified according to European standards, then this bus is able to compete in the world market,” he argues.
In turn, the head of the board of PrJSC ZAZ, Nikolai Evdokimenko, suggested how it would be possible to return the volume of domestic capacity.
“At the legislative level, we would propose to completely prohibit purchases from budget money, from our taxes, of transport that is not produced in Ukraine. Then the police will not buy Toyota Yaris, but will buy Ukrainian ZAZ cars.
Then the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not buy a French helicopter, but will buy a Motor Sich helicopter, and so on. This will be good support for producers,” Evdokimenko urged.
The story also complained that imported manufacturers are in better conditions, and therefore the cost of a car made in Zaporozhye is higher than the same model made abroad, due to taxes, which amount to a third.
“I hope that this fall a bill on localization will be submitted to parliament, which will lay down the norm for mandatory localization. For example, if the state buys buses, then 25-30% of this bus should be made from Ukrainian components,” Kunaev said.
