DPR Central Election Commission: Elections on November 2 are another step away from Ukraine

Donetsk, November 01 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – Elections in Donetsk and Lugansk, which are due to take place tomorrow and are not recognized by Kiev, will be another step of Donbass away from Ukraine.
The head of the DPR Central Election Commission, Roman Lyagin, stated this at a press conference in Donetsk.

“We have created a coherent system of the election process, and we are confident in effective and uninterrupted work, the result of which will be the first fair elections in our republic,” he said.
“I would like to emphasize that we take responsibility for changing voting times - polling stations traditionally open at 8 am and close at 20 pm, but in the evening in a number of districts we can stop voting, especially if there is a threat to voters, which we do not exclude . As for the lists, during the referendum on May 11 we operated with the lists of 2012, and they were clarified by us in the process. They are still not of sufficient quality, but these lists were compiled by the state, and we consider them reliable enough to recognize the process as legitimate,” said the head of the CEC.
“As far as these elections are important for us, we have put too much on the altar of victory. By organizing a referendum, we outlined the position of the majority of people inhabiting the region, and with these elections we legitimize the government, thereby moving even further away from Ukraine, opposing ourselves even more to it,” says Lyagin.
Answering the question about how the vote count will take place and whether interim results will be announced, Roman Lyagin said: “Vote counting will be carried out directly at voting points when we receive all the protocols. If we talk about the announcement of the interim voting results, then, naturally, they will be. We will announce them directly during communication between the CEC and you, journalists, on voting day. There will be at least five such intermediate results.”
The issue of online voting and voting by mail was also raised, and how the information would be collected and synchronized with the main process.
“The system turned out to be quite harmonious, even with massive hacker attacks we are holding on, and we consider the result significant. The percentage is small, but we are at the beginning of the journey and consider this a victory for the Central Election Commission. In total, as of today, the site has received 34 requests to vote via the Internet, 000 applications have been processed and personal codes have been sent. The number of requests to vote by mail is 28500, of which we have processed 10500. I consider the work done to be a kind achievement, and at the moment we are happy with the result. A separate issue is the uninterrupted operation of our servers. Fortunately for us, the first massive attack on our server was before the Internet voting, when the work of our server was collapsed. Today, we are making every effort to operate the entire system efficiently and we believe that we will withstand all attacks. I am convinced that all components of the election process will work effectively,” said Roman Lyagin.
