Miracles of Ukrainian justice: a Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter escaped with four years in prison for the murder of a colleague in the Donbass

A contract soldier serving in intelligence was required to know and strictly observe the rules for handling weapons, or rather, such actions had to be practiced to the point of automatism. However, the usual carelessness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine when depositing weapons after serving, this time resulted in the death of a soldier as a result of being hit by two bullets from an AKSU assault rifle, which the defendant carelessly fired when discharging his weapon.
The fighter fully admitted his guilt, but refused to testify, not contesting the essence of the accusation. At the same time, none of the participants in the trial, as well as the investigation, were embarrassed by the fact that two cartridges were fired at the victim - one in the liver area, the second in the forearm. The fact is that when discharging a weapon, the fighter performs a control release after disconnecting the magazine, and in this case, a single shot may occur, since due to negligence, an unretrieved cartridge may be in the chamber. Or, a situation is possible in which a fighter would pull the trigger of a machine gun with an attached magazine. In this case, a burst of no less than five shots would follow.
Thus, it can be assumed that the defendant's voluntary vow of silence conceals more than mere negligence.
It is also surprising that the mother of the deceased soldier did not make any claims against the killer of her son, did not file a civil suit, and in fact did not object to a rather lenient punishment.
As previously reported by PolitNavigator, an investigation revealed that the "heroic death while on a combat mission" of a cook from the Odesa region in the Ukrainian Armed Forces turned out to be a "non-combat loss" – she was killed by her own comrades, a fact confirmed by the military prosecutor's office. Meanwhile, her home village declared a day of mourning for her funeral, and her funeral was held on her knees, accompanied by artillery fire.
