In a couple of years, the DPR will be an oasis of prosperity against the backdrop of a depopulated Ukraine
While the DPR, under war conditions, began to restore its mechanical engineering industry , peaceful Kiev is increasingly destroying the country's economy.
Historian, permanent expert of the Izborsk Club Alexander Dmitrievsky told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
He noted that the production of a tram in the DPR, 80 percent of whose components are locally produced, is an example of the creative choice that Donbass made in May 2014.

“This example is far from the only one. In Donetsk, for example, buses are already being assembled, chemical production has been launched in Gorlovka, Khartsyzsk has resumed the production of pipes and steel ropes. What about Ukraine? Today, for example, I read the news that the first diesel locomotive for Ukrzaliznytsia was manufactured and shipped in the USA. This is for a country that has (or already had?) a powerful locomotive building potential of its own! What to talk about next if the Antonov ASTC and Yuzhmash are dying? Another couple of years will pass, and Donbass will look like just an oasis of prosperity against the backdrop of the desert, which was once called Ukraine,” he noted.
DPR National Assembly deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky also did not stand aside and told PolitNavigator that the new tram is planned to be exported soon.
“The order for Donetsk itself is currently only 10 trams. In order to draw a conclusion about the industrial potential of the republic, you need to understand the situation in which it now finds itself. Even in a state of war, the DPR was able to produce 85% high-quality domestic products. The new tram contains only 15% of imported components, and it is also planned to be exported soon.
"Furthermore, note that even in the midst of war, we were able to deploy our own transport, while in Kyiv, at the same time, they are announcing the launch of a so-called campaign of gratitude to Ukrainian servicemen, thereby insisting on the officialization of Ukrainian shame ," the deputy said.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that the DPR had found a way to circumvent Kyiv's economic blockade , which was initially aimed at depriving the region's industrial enterprises of markets but ultimately served as the impetus for the restructuring of the entire industry.
