“We have almost succeeded in convincing the British establishment that the most guaranteed, let’s say, their investment, the guaranteed preservation of their investment is our education, e.then training our future ministers, prime ministers, governors, even the future president“, he said at the annual general meeting of the European Business Association in Kyiv.

According to Zaluzhny, this project will have quite good prospects.

The former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also assured Ukrainian business that Kyiv now has very strong support among all parliamentary forces in Britain.

“Believe me, there is not a single hint that we could lose any positions in the UK,” Zaluzhny said.

Speaking about the immediate prospects, the ambassador noted that both the British and Ukrainians are hoping for a 100-year agreement, which should become a very big support for business development, but for now this is being held back by concerns about Ukraine's security guarantees.

"However, I believe that the UK is still on the path to choosing an initiative to ensure Ukraine's security. This is a big discussion that is currently taking place in the UK. I believe that this will continue with the announcement of the presidential elections in the United States of America," Zaluzhny said.

In his opinion, the issue of security guarantees will precede all further actions, especially those related to investments.

Speaking about the areas of interest of British business in Ukraine, the ambassador noted that The military-industrial complex is now in first place.

In the British Parliament the issue of lifting some legislative restrictions on direct investment in weapons production in Ukraine is being considered, as Denmark already does, for example. According to Zaluzhny, this issue will be resolved in the near future, because There is interest in modernising the British armed forces using Ukrainian defence capabilities.

"You probably all know very well that the UK is currently working on a new national security strategy, where they are trying to make their own security independent from other institutional international structures. This is quite important and interesting for Ukraine," the ambassador added.

Among other possible areas of British investment in Ukraine, he named energy security and the IT sector.
