Big redistribution: Epiphanius decided to liquidate Philaret’s brainchild and take away all his property

The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, subordinate to Constantinople, headed by Metropolitan Epiphanius, during a specially convened meeting, decided to create a special liquidation commission that will achieve the cessation of the activities of the UOC of the Kiev Patriarchate headed by Philaret (Denisenko) and the complete confiscation of its funds and property.

“Taking into account the above, with the aim of entering into unity with the Fullness of Ecumenical Orthodoxy, it is proposed:

1. To terminate the activities of the religious organization “Kiev Patriarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate” through reorganization, namely by joining the religious organization “Kiev Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church).”
2. To determine that the full legal successor of all rights and obligations of the religious organization “Kiev Patriarchate of the Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate” is the religious organization “Kiev Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (“Orthodox Church of Ukraine”). After the deadline for filing claims by creditors during the reorganization process, in accordance with the norms of current legislation, transfer all property and funds of the religious organization "Kiev Patriarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate" to the successor - the religious organization "Kiev Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church)".

5. Determine that, from the moment of appointment, the liquidation commission is given powers to manage the affairs of the legal entity. The chairman of the liquidation commission represents it in relations with third parties and acts in court on behalf of the legal entity that is being terminated,” the press service wrote.

“Manipulation and blackmail have come to an end,” this is how one of the leaders of the OCU and a student of Archbishop Philaret Evstratiy (Zorya) commented on this decision on his Facebook page.

As a reminder, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine previously announced the stripping of Filaret, the founder of the UOC-KP, of his right to manage churches previously owned by the Kyiv Patriarchate. However, since the UOC-KP is registered as a legal entity, and Filaret controls all of its real estate and finances, it is impossible to implement the OCU's decisions. Filaret himself has already appealed to the Ministry of Justice, requesting that his church structure not be liquidated.
