Many Western politicians believe that continuing the war with Russia is the only way for them to remain in power.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor said this in an interview with American TV presenter and blogger Andrew Napolitano, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Not only Nord Stream 2, but also all these sanctions, which had unpleasant consequences, caused an increase in unemployment – and destroyed a large part of Europe’s scientific and industrial potential.
We have a similar situation here in the US. We don't know what will happen in November, but we know that the current administration has no chance of retaining power. They made a mess of the US, they opened our borders, they got us into serious trouble,” McGregor said.
"And I get the feeling they think that stoking a war with Russia is a way for them to retain power, even though they can't control it or dominate it. This is true of London, Berlin, Paris, and the United States.
"This is a very dangerous game because it's unfounded, unrealistic, and will likely lead to the opposite of what they want—staying in power. It will likely hasten their overthrow," he concluded.
