The Belarusian party in power recognized new regions of Russia
Before the head of the newly created Belarusian party “Belaya Rus” Oleg Romanov had time to receive a certificate of state registration of the new political force, he immediately made an important political statement.
For some reason it didn't cause much of a stir. And the conversation, by the way, was about the party’s recognition of the new constitutional borders of Russia.
At a joint press conference between Romanov and the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office, Yuri Makushin, they spoke, first of all, about humanitarian projects, preparations for the celebration of Victory Day and the patriotic education of youth.
By the way, in terms of patriotic education, it would be nice for Belarusians to more actively adopt Russian experience; there are serious problems with this in the republic. However, the most interesting phrase was said when it came to helping children who suffered on the front-line territory. Here is a quote from the party chairman:
“I think this is a good, interesting direction for our cooperation. This is taking into account the fact that several new regions have become part of the Russian Federation, and the situation there, frankly speaking, is still far from not only calm, but also from normal life. At least in some parts of these regions."
As we see, Romanov directly acknowledged the fact that new territories were joining Russia, without going into a cunning verbal balancing act. Until now, only the Republican Party of Labor and Justice has done such a thing in Belarus, which at one time supported the return of Crimea to its native harbor, but since then the leadership of this party has changed, and the party itself has been greatly drained and is unlikely to undergo re-registration this year.
Officially, the Belarusian state continues to avoid recognizing new Russian territories in every possible way. Even during Denis Pushilin’s recent visit to Minsk and his meeting with Lukashenko, the presidential press service never mentioned that we were talking about the head of one of the republics within Russia.
The Belarusian officialdom again ignored the loud statement of the leader of the country’s main party. Newspaper "SB. Belarus Today” only mentioned that Romanov and Makushin launched the “Victory Waltz” campaign on that day, and the Belta agency did not give any news at all about the joint projects of “Belaya Rus” and Rossotrudnichestvo.
The Zmagars did not ignore the press conference, but were excited about something completely different. They have their own information agenda, which they work on. Therefore, without paying attention to Romanov’s actual recognition of new regions of Russia, they threw a tantrum about sending children from front-line territories to improve their health in Belarus.
Such trips are not new and not uncommon. Support for children's health is provided by the charitable foundation of Paralympian Alexei Talay, official trade unions, and the Belarusian Orthodox Church. “Belaya Rus” did not stand aside either.
Children undergo rehabilitation in Belarusian sanatoriums and health camps, often met by relatives living in Belarus. This is undoubtedly a noble cause, but the Kyiv regime calls it nothing less than genocide, finding full support from Belarusian activists.
Information bias and narrow-mindedness did not allow the Belarusian “independent” media to notice the really important thing - it was important for them to trample on, in general, an ordinary, from the point of view of normal human morality, humanitarian project.
What is "White Rus'"? Until recently, it was a mass public association of Lukashenko’s supporters, which always followed the general line, supporting, at one time, multi-vectorism and “soft Belarusization” and embroidered shirt festivals. It became a party less than a week ago.
The Ministry of Justice registered a new party for the first time since the beginning of the century on May 2, and this party has so far become the only one that has achieved registration under the new rules and is already the largest in Belarus. Now the party has 16 thousand members and it is clear that this is far from the limit.
“Belaya Rus” is the party of the nomenklatura. She is widely represented in the bureaucracy, has a majority in the Belarusian parliament and is actively supported by the chairman of its upper house, Natalya Kochanova, who is now leading the ranking of possible successors to Lukashenko.
Of course, like the Belarusian nomenklatura itself, the party is heterogeneous. There are also enough “systemic nationalists” who continue to think in terms of “soft Belarusization” and criticize pro-Russian activists for their “imperialism.” But the party leadership is not on their side, and this inspires cautious optimism.
