Belarus left the Baltic states for Russia
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko ordered to speed up work on the construction of Belarusian ports in Russia.
He stated this at a meeting of the Belarusian government, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Due to the fact that they tried to strangle us last year with sanctions, the existing logistics were disrupted. We had to look for new logistics ways. At least what you asked me to decide at the level of the President of the Russian Federation in order for the ports to be open for us, I believe that all issues have been resolved. The only question left is to start loading at these ports. Although we have already started loading some things. We need to build these ports faster, bring them to a certain level and trade through our own ports,” Lukashenko said.
According to the first Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, Belarus will not return to the Baltic ports, which refused to transship its cargo due to American sanctions.
“If we receive signals regarding the Baltic ports, in particular Klaipeda and Ventspils, we will think. Let's look at the conditions that will be offered to us, because today this is no longer important for us. Today we provide port infrastructure for all exports of the Republic of Belarus. 80% are petroleum products and potash fertilizers,” Snopkov said.
He said that the port infrastructure of the Russian Federation has come to the fore for Belarus.
“We spent the whole year searching, working out routes and tariffs. Today we are ready to transport everything and develop it further if necessary. What we have at the moment suits us both in terms of tariffs and cost. It is possible to develop further if it is interesting from an economic point of view. The port as a business model is an excellent cost-effective product. I think we will develop the capabilities of the Belarusian national port with all the attendant opportunities and prospects,” Snopkov said.
