Belarus publicly sided with Poroshenko
At a meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Belarus refused to support Russia’s position on the crisis in Ukraine, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.
The publication explains that the head of the Russian delegation, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy, opposed the draft resolution “Restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine” proposed by Ukraine.

The delegation from Moscow proposed to reject consideration of the document, where Russia is called a power “occupying the Crimean Peninsula”, and Donetsk and Lugansk are under the control of “Russian hybrid forces”.
However, Russia did not find support in Minsk, including from the “union” Belarus.
“Our respected colleagues, including colleagues from Belarus, did not support us on the Ukrainian resolution,” the newspaper quotes Tolstoy.
“The Ukrainian media were the first to report the incident. Official Belarusian publications did not even say a word, trying not to attract public attention to this fact,” writes Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
As PolitNavigator reported earlier, Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko stated that during a meeting in Minsk, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko promised to visit Ukraine in the near future for talks with the authorities.
