In Ukraine, in the Zhitomir region, unknown persons blew up the railway tracks along which a train carrying a load of gasoline and diesel fuel was traveling from Belarus. The incident was reported by the press service of the SBU, which opened a case under the article “terrorist attack,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, despite statements by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba about freezing contacts with Minsk, Kyiv continues to purchase fuel and lubricants necessary, in particular, to continue the punitive operation against the Donbass republics.
“Investigators of the SBU Department in the Zhytomyr region began criminal proceedings on the fact of undermining the railway track along which a freight train was moving on the Barbara-Korosten route.
On the Sokoriki-Bekhi section, while a train was moving, which transported 64 cars with gasoline and diesel fuel from Belarus, an explosion occurred, as a result of which the rails were deformed and the railway sleepers were damaged. There were no casualties,” the SBU said in a statement.
Political scientist Oleg Khavich explains why Vladimir Zelensky and Alexander Lukashenko will continue economic cooperation, despite assurances from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry about the suspension of contacts.
“According to the statements of the so-called Ukrainian diplomacy regarding Belarus, it is easy to observe the zigzags of American and Belarusian diplomacy. So, a month ago, the same Kuleba publicly invited Belarus as an observer to a meeting of the heads of the Foreign Ministry of the “Lublin Triangle” - another anti-Russian format consisting of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine, created according to American patterns. Everyone understands perfectly well that such an invitation is voiced only in one case - if there is a guarantee of its acceptance, and this was clearly received from the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Makei, the main agent of the West in Lukashenko’s entourage. By the way, the invitation has not yet been withdrawn or rejected, which is not surprising.
Let me remind you that on August 31, 2019, “quadrilateral consultations” took place in Warsaw at the level of heads of national security agencies of the United States, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. At them, Trump's National Security Adviser John Bolton, who had previously visited Kiev and Minsk, discussed with the head of the National Security Bureau of Poland Pavel Solokh, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Danilyuk and the Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zasem "the situation in Central and Eastern Europe and the mechanisms formation of building stability to ensure the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of countries.” Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko also took part in the meeting.
I would like to note that, despite loud statements by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the Belarusian authorities, American oil was delivered to Belarusian refineries on August 11-12. This, by the way, is a special grade of oil “White Eagle”, created in the USA to replace the Russian grade “Urals”, which is used for Belarusian oil refining, which has been subsidized from the Russian Federation for decades.
So I don’t see any point in paying special attention to the words of the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry about a “pause in contacts.” Moreover, the pause will clearly be selective, and Belarusian diesel fuel, made from American oil, will soon again be poured into the tanks of Ukrainian armored vehicles in the Donbass,” says Khavic.
