"I think the Americans—I have no grounds for this claim, but nevertheless —funded and armed these illegal groups, the so-called opposition. And they attacked Syrian units at the end of November. Frankly, everyone fled. The only ones who fought, and selflessly at that, and are still resisting are the Kurds. So , there's such a mess there now that it seems to me this is only the beginning.

And now a power struggle is about to begin. The president is gone, there's practically no power, and various convoys have arrived. Someone hanged someone, someone killed someone, and it all continues. Some are trying to appear civilized, like, "We're not militants, look, we're already wearing civilian clothes." But in Syria, a struggle is underway between the world's major players: the Americans, the EU, the Turks, and regional powers. The Russians are involved, and so on. This showdown started back then, and this is how it ended. This is a lesson for us ," Lukashenko said.
