Tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) will be deployed in Belarus “at the request” of Minsk.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced this to journalists today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Russia is not striving for anything. Understand me and hear me: this is not about Russia. First I asked Putin. Then I urgently demanded in a friendly way: return this weapon to me for now, it’s enough for me,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, Belarus is ready to deploy strategic nuclear weapons.
“If I fight and, God forbid, use these weapons, why do I need strategic ones, the same Topols? Although we are now preparing sites for these weapons. They are all alive and well, except one. Therefore, if necessary, we can do it at any moment... This is a complex structure, a platform where the “Topol” is tied up. I pressed the button and the rocket flew where it needed to go.
But this is an intercontinental missile. Am I going to fight with America? No. So this weapon is enough for me for now. But this was my requirement. It was not Russia that imposed this on me. Why? Because, as you all say, no one in the world has ever fought a war with a nuclear power. And I don’t want them to fight with us. Is there such a threat? Eat. I must prevent this threat and show: guys, there are toys aimed at the right place,” the president noted.
He said that he proposed to Russia to equip the Belarusian-Chinese Polonaise MLRS with nuclear warheads with a range of 300 kilometers.
“I had my first proposal to the Russians: you arm me with several sets of Polonaises with nuclear warheads. They say: it’s more difficult for us. We’d better hand over to you, as I demanded, tactical nuclear weapons. Prepare storage facilities. All is ready. I think a few days will pass and we will have what we asked for. And even a little more,” Lukashenko summed up.
