Belarus needs to prepare for a storm - Denisov
The Belarusian opposition has no chance of raising the country to a general strike.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflict Studies.
According to him, initially understanding the absurdity of the demands for the removal of Alexander Lukashenko, the organizers yesterday's anti-government protest in Minsk “they did not wait for the authorities’ reaction to the so-called "people's ultimatum" and announced in advance a so-called general strike,” which should begin today.
“But by all appearances, this is also nothing more than a piece of information that has no real basis. As a result, the conclusion is: the protests are becoming more and more sluggish, the ideas of the oppositionists are accepted by fewer and fewer people, and a time of calm is coming. We must prepare for the storm,” Denisov believes.
