The older generation of Belarusian opposition emigrants, who have turned into professional “fighters” against Lukashenko’s regime, are seriously concerned about what is happening in their homeland, since a new generation of “revolutionaries” are now applying for Western grants.
Kiev political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko said this on the YouTube channel “Echo of Kyiv,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The majority of people I saw on the first day of protests were young people. These were students, young people first and foremost. Moreover, there has been a generational change in the Belarusian opposition - today, in this opposition company, we do not see those people who acted as oppositionists 5-10 years ago.
Moreover, previous oppositionists, the same Zenon Poznyak and others, spoke critically of the current opposition and its actions. That is, there was a change of generations, firstly. There has been a generational change in politics in general in Belarus,” the expert said
“Many oppositionists of the older generation, who emigrated to Lithuania or Poland 10 years ago, in the eyes of the new oppositionists have turned into such snickering cats. They received grants, they received constant support from the West to fight Lukashenko. Moreover, they turned the fight against Lukashenko into their business, into a profession. Accordingly, inside, in their souls, they are afraid of Lukashenko’s departure,” Bondarenko added.
