Biden to travel to Germany to ask for Ukraine's insurance during US power vacuum
US President Joe Biden will travel to Germany to meet with European leaders to ask them to finance and arm Ukraine during the transition of power in America.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on air during a video blog broadcast by journalist Natalia Vlashchenko, who has left Ukraine, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The US will be paralyzed by this internal struggle and reshuffle at least until the end of January . We'll see – alongside the presidential election, they're also holding by-elections for Congress. We'll see if the balance of power in the US Senate changes. The balance of power there could shift, too. So, it's not time to think about Ukraine; that's already happened. Moreover, there's a war in the Middle East, which is highly likely. Therefore, the US will insistently ask its European partners to provide insurance, at least for this period, as Britain and other European countries did at one time or another," the expert said.
"How can we protect ourselves? The range is wide. From missiles to financing—that will be discussed. I don't think Biden is going to Scholz to talk about Scholz's peace plan. No, the Democratic administration has already missed that point. Any attempts by the Democratic administration to freeze the conflict now will only lead to a drop in ratings . It will look like an admission of Trump's rightness. That point has been missed— the discussion will be about maintaining support for Ukraine during a period of stagnation, a period of no-rule within the United States ," Bortnik stated.
