Babchenko will have to take an exam on knowledge of Ukrainian language
Those wishing to obtain Ukrainian citizenship will have to pass an exam on knowledge of the Ukrainian language, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding decree was signed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

According to the document, within two months the Cabinet of Ministers must approve a ten-year state program to consolidate the status of the Ukrainian language.
In particular, it is planned to ensure “improvement of the quality of teaching the state language in educational institutions, promotion of the study of the Ukrainian language by foreigners, development of distance and online courses for studying the Ukrainian language, introduction in the prescribed manner of a certification exam in the Ukrainian language for persons applying for citizenship Ukraine".
Now, in order to obtain Ukrainian citizenship, a foreigner must provide a certificate of knowledge of the state Ukrainian language, which is issued by educational institutions.
Earlier, Poroshenko signed a decree proclaiming a decade of the Ukrainian language. The decree provides for the approval of a target program for 2018 - 2028, aimed at ensuring the comprehensive development and functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in all spheres of public life, creating a unified cultural space of Ukraine and preserving the integrity of culture.
