This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Focus” by the American political scientist Francis Fukuyama, who once became famous thanks to the book “The End of History,” in which he declared that the spread of liberal values ​​indicates the end point of the sociocultural evolution of humanity.

The publication asked him to answer the question whether Moscow’s hopes for a new US president could be justified.

“Like many Americans, I am alarmed that Trump is acting as an agent of Vladimir Putin. Perhaps Putin provided him with serious support during the presidential elections. Trump has a positive attitude towards Putin and, unlike most world leaders, has not criticized him. The question is whether US reconciliation with Russia will lead to a radical change in foreign policy. Apparently, there will be voices in the presidential administration and in the Republican Party in support of this, Fukuyama fears. “The future depends on who wins this fight.”
