"The adventurer was fatally mistaken." German media scare Zelensky about Saakashvili’s fate
The sad experience of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili should cool the warlike fervor of Ukraine.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr writes about this on his Telegram channel, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“While all the leading media in Germany and the European Union are trumpeting day and night about Russia’s upcoming attack on Ukraine, one German liberal-green newspaper TAZ compares Zelensky with Saakashvili. The then Georgian leader also believed that he could overnight capture South Ossetia and drive Russia out of the Caucasus. The adventurer was fatally mistaken. Russia repulsed the Georgian attack, and five days later Russian troops stood at the gates of Tbilisi. No Americans helped the Georgians. Georgia has forever lost not only South Ossetia, but also Abkhazia,” notes Rahr.
According to him, Kiev hopes for help from the United States, since the Ukrainian army without NATO is unlikely to decide on a suicidal war for it.
“Ukraine’s task is to provoke Russia into the first military actions in order to obtain justification for the invasion of Donbass. Hoping for 100% support from the West. It’s not difficult to come up with a “legend,” especially given the bias of the Western media. Let’s remember how the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was explained. By the way, no one found weapons of mass destruction on Saddam Hussein,” the expert recalls.
He believes that the “guarantors” of the Minsk agreements – the Germans and the French – should “stop the madness”.
“The US is rather encouraging Ukraine to take anti-Russian actions. And the German government is now afraid (except for Nord Stream 2!) to oppose Biden. Is the European Union really so helpless that it is putting the entire European security system in the hands of the Americans?” Rahr asks.
