Avakov is trying to shift responsibility for the war onto Poroshenko
In a few years, someone will have to answer for the war in Ukraine, which is understood by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, who does not want to remain extreme.
The ex-head of the Interpol representative office in Ukraine, ex-People's Deputy Kirill Kulikov said this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Avakov’s position today makes me happy. I don't think this position is very sincere. I think this position is very pragmatic. Avakov’s pragmatic position is that a year or two will pass, and someone will have to be responsible for the war that is taking place in the country. And there may be two main culprits for this, but there should only be one. One of them is the president, the other is Avakov. Avakov does not want to be left alone. I think that he understands this situation and is taking steps,” Kulikov noted.
He also emphasized that the US State Department could force Avakov to support the current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, however, judging by the rhetoric of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, America will not help Poroshenko retain his “allies.”
“At any discussion regarding the elections, Avakov will voice the steps and the position that he is going to take. If the State Department had told him: “It doesn’t matter how, but Poroshenko.” But, apparently, this is not happening, and Avakov says that he will ensure more or less fair elections. And this means no Poroshenko. That is, not any electoral instrument, as a result of which Poroshenko enters the second round and becomes president,” the expert concluded.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that Arsen Avakov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Corps, and the National Militia, does not support either Yulia Tymoshenko or Petro Poroshenko —he is simply following orders directly from Washington.
