Armenians understand that if the Russians leave, the Turks will come in, not the Americans - Gevorgyan
There are radical elements in Armenia who advocate the country's withdrawal from the CSTO and severing ties with Russia, but they are not popular.
Political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan stated this on Radio KP, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You know, when the Armenian radicals, whose main slogan is to leave the CSTO and break ties with Russia, when they came to America, hoping to get the support of the Armenian communities in the United States, they were bombarded with rotten tomatoes and told that you are causing us some kind of blizzard here. What do we not understand, that America is far away, and Armenia is close to Russia?
What do we not understand, that military logistics are such that America is unlikely to be able to defend Armenia? And while the Russians are leaving, the Turks will come there. Not Americans at all.
They were kicked out in disgrace. They came there to receive political, material, and so on support.
Therefore, the Armenian leadership, even the current leadership, whatever it may be with its competencies, which raise a lot of questions in me, also understands this perfectly,” the expert said.
“By the way, in connection with Pelosi’s visit and for leaving the CSTO, they say, about 300 people gathered there. But I don't go to these rallies. And it was hot there. They were chanting something, these were the radicals. And so people understand everything perfectly. Both the people and the leadership,” said Gevorgyan.
