The so-called “Ukrainian Volunteer Army” (UDA), controlled by the founder of the “Right Sector” Dmitry Yarosh, equipped the warehouses of its “territorial” rear battalions with weapons taken from the conflict zone in Donbass.
The Kyiv online newspaper "Strana" writes about this , as reported by a correspondent from "PolitNavigator".
It is noted that it was possible to withdraw the UDA from Donbass to the rear only a few months ago.
“On September 13, 2019, a demonstration “surrender of weapons” by UDA battalions took place - at one of the bases near Mariupol, volunteers handed over “heavy” weapons and ammunition - grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, mortars and ammunition for them. The UDA did not intend to hand over light small arms - machine guns, pistols and grenades - they were taken to the rear. At the same time, the connection was by no means going to dissolve on its own,” the publication states.
The publication reports that UDA battalions have been exporting weapons to the rear in recent years.
“Moreover, collecting weapons was one of the main functions of almost all units - weapons and ammunition were purchased from active units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The exported weapons stocked the warehouses of the “territorial” rear self-defense battalions of the UDA,” writes the author of the article.

Also, the “army” recruiters did not stop their work, encouraging young people to join their ranks. Recruitment of new volunteers took place, as a rule, at the bases of local civil organizations “Self-Defense”, which were created during the Maidan.

According to the publication, “in the DUK and UDA, during the five years of war, about four thousand volunteers passed through the combat battalions of the Good Army,” who received combat and ideological training.
Currently, the UDA in almost every region has its own territorial center with “reservists” - militants who have been on the front line and are ready at any time to take up arms on orders from the command.
“We stayed with the Volunteer Army” and the bases directly in the Joint Forces Operation zone – near Mariupol. Along with the creation of territorial self-defense battalions, the UDA command made sure that almost all volunteers who had gone through combat operations were regularly involved in training camps and “drills” - exercises. Which take place every month.
By the way, despite the announced withdrawal of the UDA from the front line, small units of volunteers who have signed contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to operate at the front. However, the JFO command is in no hurry to disband these groups, preferring to use them in the most difficult sectors of the front,” the publication writes.
