Armen Gasparyan: Putin’s decree is the start of the legitimation of the Donbass republics

Vladimir Putin, by issuing a decree today recognizing the documents of the LPR and DPR within Russian territory , launched the process of legitimizing the Donbas republics, Russian publicist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator.

“This, without a doubt, is the most important measure for the political legitimation of the republics, because it is obvious that the residents of Donbass experienced significant difficulties in the light of all the events that took place in Ukraine - these are constant blockades and military campaigns. Obviously, this issue had to be resolved somehow.

The decree that was signed today, in fact, is the starting point for a global solution to all those problems.

Please note that it was signed an hour before the start of the meeting of foreign ministers on the Normandy format. That is, this is not a conventional story at all, but part of Russia’s very serious efforts to stabilize the situation there and, of course, to develop the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” Gasparyan said.
