American general: It's time to bomb Saki, Dzhankoy and Sevastopol
The West must provide Ukraine with long-range missiles so that it can strike military and infrastructure targets in Crimea.
Former US Army Europe Commander Ben Hodges stated this on the Pryamyi TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Hodges, only in this case will Ukraine have a chance to capture the peninsula by this summer.
“I believe that Ukraine can liberate Crimea before the end of this summer, before August, if (and this is a big “if”), the West provides for Ukraine’s needs so that Ukraine makes Crimea ineffective for the Russian military.
You know the size of the peninsula, you clearly know where and what is there, where are the air bases, where are the naval bases, where are the logistics routes. There's nowhere to hide. What does Ukraine need? It is the ability to strike these targets that are well known. And this will make it impossible for the Russian military to remain there any longer,” the general said.
“We need to make sure that they never repair the Kerch Bridge, continue to strike the bridges in Mariupol and Melitopol - the routes that lead to Crimea, strike Sevastopol, Saki, Dzhankoy and other targets with accurate long-range weapons.
If there are no accurate long-range weapons over the next few months, it will be very difficult for Ukraine to liberate Crimea before the end of the summer,” Hodges said.
