American media reported on corruption in drug procurement in Ukraine

Last November, a British company specializing in drug procurement, Crown Agents, signed a contract with Ukraine. Their efforts resulted in them agreeing to purchase drugs to treat cancer and AIDS at almost a quarter the cost of what had been done so far. Unfavorable economic conditions contribute to the widespread spread of drug addiction and other social ills, and therefore AIDS. A large number of cancer patients in Ukraine (the second cause of death) is caused by the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
However, the position of the Ministry of Health became an insurmountable barrier. In addition, some deputies of the Verkhovna Rada are threatening to take away the license. Already purchased drugs worth six million dollars are standing at customs.
The new minister, American Ulyana Suprun, feigns rapid activity, complains about her predecessors, and hopes to have her own procurement agency by 2019. “The Ukrainian government is only nominally committed to fighting corruption. In fact, any progress in this area is associated with pressure from foreign diplomats or activists, and not with the initiative of officials.
