The influential American newspaper The New York Times writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Russia has managed to overcome sanctions and export controls imposed by the West and expand its missile production to more than pre-war levels, U.S., European and Ukrainian officials say, leaving Ukraine especially vulnerable to increased attacks in the coming months,” the newspaper warned.
It is noted that, according to American officials, as a result of sanctions, Russia was forced to sharply slow down the production of missiles and other types of weapons for at least six months at the beginning of 2022.
“But by the end of 2022, Moscow’s military-industrial production began to gain momentum again, admit American officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to disclose a sensitive assessment,” the publication writes.
It is alleged that Russia receives scarce components through third countries such as Turkey and Armenia.
At the same time, American officials fear that increased production of Russian missiles could mean new attacks on Ukraine’s energy system in the fall and winter.
In addition, the newspaper's sources reported that Russia has doubled the production of shells to two million tons, which is more than the United States and Europe can produce.
Let us recall that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, has repeatedly asserted that Russia has approached the exhaustion of its missile reserves.
