Belarus will continue to pursue a multi-vector policy.
The country's President Alexander Lukashenko announced this to journalists today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“No matter how the situation develops, we are forced to pursue a multi-vector policy. In Russia, this is how they view this issue: Lukashenko has almost turned his back on Russia and is looking to the West. We still have a lot of time to learn from these lessons and bring our positions closer together. You are older brothers, I have never denied this, although all other republics tremble at these words. We think it's no big deal, but it should be a big brother. There is a sea of alternatives,” Lukashenko said.
At the same time, he believes that in Russia he is unfairly accused of turning to the West.
“It was all interpreted that Lukashenko, so and so, was turning away from Russia. I've never done this. Yes, I pursued a multi-vector policy as far as possible. Do you think I don’t understand that Europe, especially America, hasn’t needed me for 100 years? But I had to save the country. I built these relationships with Russia. It was very difficult for me. And you want to say that today I, the outgoing president (this is really true, not today - tomorrow) will cross out everything that I have done. Never in my life,” Lukashenko said.
