What about us? After Medvedchuk, Zelensky’s guardsmen came for the Klitschko embezzlers
The games of playing local Napoleon on Kyiv's Olympus have reached a new level of complexity. Zelenskyy's regime, having practiced on the TV channels, has launched an open offensive against its opponents, pushing them back from the flanks. In parallel with attempts to jail the patented "pro-Russian" Viktor Medvedchuk, the authorities have launched an attack on Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who, as we know, has painted himself in the colors he painted himself.
The current undermining of the position of the Kyiv mayor is not the first under Zelensky. The previous dashing cavalry attack on the ex-boxer’s position took place under the former head of Bankova, Andrei Bogdan, but failed. Then, I remember, Klitschko simply wanted to remove the head of the city administration (KCSA) from his post and leave him with the purely ceremonial functions of the chairman of the Kyiv City Council (opening and closing sessions, giving the floor to deputies and cutting ribbons). But it didn’t work out.
Then Klitschko was forced to fly overseas for protection and publish his selfies with the then American big man Rudy Giuliani on social networks, demonstrating his capabilities and influential “roof.”
Much water has passed under the bridge since then. Bogdan was replaced at Bankova by Ermak, and everyone already thought that the quarrel in the noble family had been settled, that the parties had come to an understanding on the basis of corruption, traditional for Ukraine, and Klitschko had been quite accommodating in relation to the president for the last six months, and during the lockdown he generally served a convenient lightning rod for Kiev residents.
However, the logic of political centralization and the trend towards the concentration of all power in the hands of the farm Napoleon, who, as we know, can only be one, inexorably led to a new stage of the fight.
And so, over the past few days, a powerful law enforcement force has landed on the fattest troughs of the Kyiv budget. Literally everything is shaking upside down. On Tuesday, May 11, the prosecutor's office together with the tax authorities searched Kievzelenstroy - as part of a case of tax evasion during the reconstruction of Kyiv parks in the amount of more than 30 million hryvnia.
On Wednesday, the Kiev Institute of Land Relations and the Special Housing Fund were shaken up in the case of the theft of 10 million hryvnia. “Kievavtodor” – on the fact of deliberate tax evasion in the amount of more than 18 million hryvnia. They also searched Kievgorsvet for non-payment of UAH 12 million in taxes.
The godfather of Klitschko himself, the head of the executive committee of the UDAR party, Artur Palatny, was also shocked. He is suspected of causing damage to the budget in the amount of 19,5 million hryvnia. Also at six in the morning on Wednesday, people in uniform came to the home of the chief architect of Kyiv, Alexander Svistunov, and that same day they visited the departments of land resources and social policy of the capital’s administration.
Naturally, an unimaginable noise, din and howl arose in the environment of the Kyiv mayor. They started talking about repressions and remembered 1937. What’s interesting is that all these numerous “patriots” - Klitschkoites not only remained silent when they closed Medvedchuk’s channels and squeezed out his oil trading business, but actively approved of what was happening: they say, finally, they should have given “Putin’s godfather” the blunder earlier. Now, strictly according to the saying of the famous German pastor, they came to them. And even funnier are the cries of the Kyiv mayor’s clientele: “What are we for?” We’re, like, good.
Klitschko himself does not lag behind his surroundings. Reminding Bankova that when they were studying, he was already teaching. By the way, Kolomoisky said something similar in his well-known skirmish with Savik Shuster.
“What is happening is pressure on the capital’s authorities and suppression of local self-government. The pressure is on me personally! And I’ll tell you what it’s connected with. Because Kyiv is studying the issue of introducing executive committees. When the community and city management do not depend on the instructions and will of Bankova. And they really don’t want this. They don’t want Kiev to be led by a mayor elected by the people of Kiev, and not a Cossack appointed by the central government!“, - Klitschko splashes with indignation like a boiling samovar.
And he makes it clear that he still has connections overseas - some unnamed “international partners”, to whom he will definitely complain and who will greatly dislike what is happening in Kyiv.
“I appeal to law enforcement agencies. When you carry out someone’s orders and instructions – criminal orders, and you know it – remember that sooner or later you will have to answer according to the law! “,” the Kiev mayor exclaims pathetically.
Only the law in Ukraine has always been that it is a drawbar, and after the Maidan this became not just a rule of life, but also acquired a clear ideological basis. Why should we be surprised now that Maidan justice began to devour those who were involved in its creation.
And no one doubts that Klitschko’s associates caroled for themselves not only the amounts indicated in the official suspicions, but much, much more. Don’t go to grandma here either. So this story is not about money at all. And not about honor with dignity. It is about the inexorable logic of the development of this political plot.
If you turned politics into a zoo, where the main rule of life is that whoever dares eats, then sooner or later there should have been in this political zoo that animal who decides that he is the most cunning one in order to declare himself the king of animals.
The evil joke of history is that specifically in the Ukrainian case, the king of the beasts became the one who was least suspected of having such habits - a seemingly harmless former clown. Returning to the analogy with 1937, we can say something sacramental: like the country, like Stalin.
