8 euros for moral damage: a Ukrainian woman lost her case against the director of an exposé film about the Maidan
A Paris court ruled against Ukrainian translator Anna Chesanovskaya for criticizing director Paul Moreira, author of the film “Ukraine, Masks of the Revolution,” which exposed the inconvenient truth for the organizers of the Kiev Maidan about the role of neo-Nazis in the coup in Ukraine.

This was reported in the court decision of the court of first instance (tribunal correctionnel), the Kiev publication “European Truth” reports.
At the beginning of 2016, the film “Ukraine, Masks of the Revolution” was broadcast in France. It caused hysteria among Ukrainian politicians and propagandists; the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry rudely interfered with the editorial policy of French media several times, trying to ban objectionable content, but to no avail.
Le Liberation published a blog by Anna Chesanovskaya, whom Moreira hired to translate a small part of his material. The Ukrainian woman provided details about quotes from politicians that were translated but not included in the film. Chesanovska also reported manipulation in the credits - she was noted as the only translator, although another, unnamed translator worked with most of the film.
It was this blog that became the reason for a lawsuit from Moreira, who stated that he considered the Ukrainian woman’s accusations “slander.”
The Paris court sided with the director, ruling that even value judgments harm him. The prosecutor, who, according to the testimony of the participants, also took part in the process, supported these claims.
In accordance with the court's decision, Anna Chesanovskaya must pay: 5000 euros in moral compensation to Moreira, 3000 euros in compensation for his legal expenses, pay for the publication of a refutation in the newspaper of Mereira's choice, spending up to 5000 euros on this; pay the state a fine of 500 euros for violating the law; compensate 127 euros for legal costs.
This decision was made on June 29. At the moment, its full text has not been published in the court register, but Europravda has a copy of it on 11 pages
Anna Chesanovskaya's defense has already appealed the decision on appeal, considering it unfounded.
