189 thousand residents of Transnistria signed the appeal for recognition of the republic
Chisinau - Tiraspol, May 14 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - 189 people signed the appeal of the public organization "Union of Russian Communities of Transnistria" to Russian President Vladimir Putin to initiate the recognition procedure of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The chairman of the Union of Russian Communities, Viorika Kokhtareva, told reporters about this.

According to her, the action took place for less than two weeks - from April 23 to May 7, and on May 9, a ceremony of handing over the appeal and collected signatures to the Russian delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the special representative of the Russian president for Transnistria, Dmitry Rogozin, took place in Tiraspol.
The text of the appeal to Putin states that Transnistria has always been oriented towards Russia, and the population of the republic confirmed this in a national referendum on September 17, 2006. The document also expresses concern about the unfriendly actions of Moldova, which intends to integrate into the EU, and Ukraine.
As previously reported, Moldovan special services took several boxes with the signatures of Pridnestrovians from the board of the Russian government Yak-42 aircraft, which was forced to land in Chisinau, since Ukraine and Romania closed its airspace to it. The Russian delegation returned to Moscow on a regular plane. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry stated that the materials were detained to analyze their legality. However, as Dmitry Rogozin reported on social networks, most of the signatures were delivered to Moscow.
The estimated population of Transnistria by the beginning of this year was 505,2 thousand people.
