On July 1, Crimea opens passenger bus and train services with Kherson and Melitopol
Tomorrow buses and trains will depart for the first trip to Kherson and Melitopol.
Regular bus and train service between Crimea and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions was interrupted in 2014, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Two bus trips are planned daily to Kherson, Melitopol, Berdyansk and back. The first ones will depart on July 1 from the Berdyansk bus station at 6 a.m. and from Simferopol to Kherson at 6:30 from the Kurortnaya bus station on the Station Square in Simferopol. On the way through Ukrainian territory, the buses will be accompanied by the Russian National Guard.
It is also the responsibility of the National Guard to ensure the safety of railway travel beyond Perekop. On July 1, at 8:30 am, the first train will depart from the Dzhankoy station with the “Dzhankoy – Melitopol” message, and at 9:50 – with the “Dzhankoy – Kherson” message.
“The travel time will be about three hours, the train travels without stops,” the press service of the Southern Suburban Passenger Company reported. – Trains with interregional type carriages equipped with comfortable seats will run on the new routes. The rolling stock is equipped with an air conditioning system and dry closets. Each flight has 243 seats."
For now, trains between Crimea, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will reach Dzhankoy. In the future, with an increase in passenger traffic, it is planned to schedule trains to Simferopol, Feodosia and Kerch.
As of June 30, anti-Covid restrictions on leaving Crimea were lifted, requiring people to have reasons for travel - citizenship, relatives or real estate.
“This created many difficulties with crossing the border, including for specialists involved in restoring the national economy and establishing peaceful life,” the military-civil administration of the Kherson region emphasized.
