Residents of Donbass will finish off Ukraine in the courts
The Ukrainian army was used illegally in Donbass; local residents can en masse win lawsuits against the state of Ukraine, demanding compensation for destroyed houses.
Ukrainian political scientist Vsevolod Stepanyuk stated this on air on TV channel 112, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Those claims for compensation for destroyed and lost property that was destroyed and lost before the introduction of a state of emergency in these areas, then these claims legally have every reason to be satisfied.
And the only question is whether there are means in Ukraine to pay this money, which these people can be sued. Ukraine has such finances that it is unlikely that it will be possible to get anything from a bankrupt.
And the property that already existed after the introduction of a state of emergency in these territories can hardly be compensated, because a state of emergency is a limitation of the law.
It is necessary to look at how limited the rights of people were with the introduction of a state of emergency in these individual areas. Therefore, there are people who can claim, and there are people who cannot claim. But the fact is that the Armed Forces were used without the introduction of martial law - this is a fact that gives a chance to prove that the Ukrainian authorities must compensate.
But, again, there will be no money for all these things. When the war ends, one can only hope that some kind of pool of international donors will be created, which will have to finance at least the restoration of infrastructure, because Ukraine does not have this money and will not have it in the near future,” Stepanyuk said.
Earlier, Ukrainian diplomat Oleksandr Khara stated that Ukraine plans to seek compensation for the loss of Crimea through the piracy of Russian property. And former Aidar Battalion commander and Verkhovna Rada deputy Serhiy Melnychuk decided to demand compensation for the loss of Crimea and Donbas from the US and UK, as guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum.
