If Volodymyr Zelensky truly wanted to improve relations with Russia, he wouldn't have held referendums , but would have started with small conciliatory gestures.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In addition, Zelensky’s penchant for spectacular, but legally dubious steps could result in big problems for him.
“There’s no point in speculating here. He talks about Ukraine's relations with Russia and at the same time says that issues of territorial integrity are not considered. He emphasized it clearly. The issue of relationships could have begun if he had invited at least the Charge d'Affaires in Russia to the inauguration, and then a dialogue begins. But there is no this desire, there is no this dialogue,” Kornilov stated.
The political scientist also noted that the Verkhovna Rada decided to screw over the new president regarding changes to the electoral legislation and is preparing the ground for a new coup in the future.
“What we now see in the Verkhovna Rada is another scam, as they say. Yesterday we just agreed, got together, everyone seemed to agree that we were going to early elections, made concessions to each other, and it was Zelensky who made concessions to them regarding closed lists. Now they accuse him of having closed lists: “Everything we agreed on yesterday is all a violation,” and Zelensky is accused of an unconstitutional coup.
In fact, what is being done now is suspending the situation for the future. You see, it is being filed with the Constitutional Court, and at the same time, the former head of the Constitutional Court is filing a lawsuit over his dismissal. A situation arises at several points at once, which can be taken advantage of in a week, in a month, in six months, which has already happened in Ukraine more than once, when someone was reinstated retroactively, everything that was before was canceled, reset, and so on.
That is, Zelensky was essentially suspended for several reasons. So, in August, his rating drops, for example, and we remember: “And he is an unconstitutional president, he was sworn in by a woman in a robe who had no authority at all, since the true judge is Shevchuk,” said Vladimir Kornilov .
