Zelensky publicly announced his refusal to implement the Minsk agreements
The new President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, committed a gross violation of the main requirement of the agreement signed in Minsk on resolving the conflict in Donbass.
This was stated in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda by Alexey Chesnakov, director of the Center for Political Conjuncture, who is considered close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, answering the question what are the prospects for the implementation of the Minsk agreements under Zelensky.

“None. Absolutely no prospects. Even before taking office, he publicly stated that he would not implement them,” Chesnakov said.
“Did he really say that?” the publication clarified.
"Of course he did. They were told that Donbas would not receive special political status. This is a direct and blatant refusal to fulfill the main, key, fundamental demand of the Minsk agreements. I could stop there, but I will. They were told that he would not sign the amnesty law. And this is also the most important point of the Package of Measures.
Zelensky said that he would not negotiate with representatives of the DPR and LPR. But the DPR and LPR are signatories of all the Minsk agreements - the Protocol and Memorandum of the 14th year and the Set of Measures of the 15th year, as well as all documents of the Contact Group. And the Package of Measures directly states the need to coordinate all aspects of the settlement with representatives of the rebel regions of Donbass,” the expert noted.
According to him, Zelensky made it clear that he does not plan to repeal the discriminatory language law, which directly contradicts the right of Donbass residents to speak Russian, both at the official and everyday level, as provided for in the Minsk agreements.
"And Zelensky has already said all this. And where are the Minsk agreements? What's left of them? He's demonstrating disrespect for Donbas, the OSCE , Germany , France , and Russia, which stopped the war and, through difficult discussions, outlined solutions to the problem of southeastern Ukraine ," the newspaper's source said.
The director of the Center for Political Conjuncture believes that Zelensky is failing to fulfill his campaign promises, just as Poroshenko promised to end the war within two weeks.
"Because they refuse to implement the UN Security Council resolution , which endorsed the Minsk Package of Measures as the only acceptable roadmap for resolving the conflict," Chesnakov explained. "Furthermore, after Zelenskyy took office, the Ukrainian army continued shelling Donbas. Under him, everything is as it was under Poroshenko."
