Even the F-16 fighters, which are supposed to enter the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are not a miracle weapon, because Russia has densely saturated the front line with air defense systems, and its modern aircraft allow you to feel calm without entering the enemy’s kill zone.
Former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladislav Seleznev, stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"In fact, there's no weapon in the world that could become a 'game changer' or 'wonder weapon,' one that could fundamentally change the battlefield. Valery Zaluzhny, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces at the time, once said this: only a comprehensive and synchronized combination of various types of weapons, military equipment, techniques, and technologies can fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield. A single weapon, even the most modern and technologically advanced, is clearly insufficient to change the situation on the battlefield," the colonel said.
"Furthermore, it's worth remembering that not all decisions made, particularly by our Western partners, are timely. For example, F -16s would have been much more practical for us in early 22, or at least early 23. Now, in 24, given that the enemy has deployed an incredible number of air defense assets to and near our country, it's probably unreasonable to assume we can completely overcome enemy air resistance."
"Furthermore, we must understand that we don't know the specifications of the F-16s that will conduct air combat operations over Ukrainian territory. Because we understand that modern Russian aircraft like the Su-34 and Su-35 have very powerful missile armament and powerful radars, which allow them to operate with considerable confidence in the air ," Seleznev stated.
