The West will not follow the Verkhovna Rada’s lead - there will be no non-recognition of the new State Duma
The West will not follow the lead of the Verkhovna Rada, which the day before declared the entire composition of the new State Duma of Russia illegitimate, since the elections were also held in Crimea, which Ukraine considers its territory.
This forecast was expressed to PolitNavigator by political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.

“In practice, the Rada’s decision not to recognize the State Duma elections will not change anything. If such a decision is made, then any inter-parliamentary cooperation should formally be stopped. But it has not been working de facto for the last two years. As for the possibility of non-recognition of the legitimacy of the Russian Duma by foreign powers, I don’t think there is any prospect for this. The West needs dialogue with Russia, and not recognizing the Russian parliament means cutting off the path to dialogue. This approach is counterproductive,” the expert explained.
