Deputy head of the Poroshenko administration disgraced himself by demonstrating historical ignorance
Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration Dmytro Shymkiv embarrassed himself by attempting to refute Russian President Vladimir Putin's reference to Yaroslav the Wise's daughter, who later became the wife of the King of France, as a "Russian princess," Moskovsky Komsomolets reports .

“Recently in France, the queen is more often politically incorrectly called Anna of Kyiv. In principle, this is completely acceptable and does not contradict historical truth, since neither in Russian nor in other languages there is a derivative from the word “Rus” that would not coincide with “Russian” in the sense of ethnic connotation. But Kyiv’s activity in promoting “Anna of Kyiv” is very noticeable. Thus, the inscription on the pedestal of the sculpture of Anna in the monastery of St. Vincent was changed back in 1996 from “Russian” to “Kyiv”, and this was done in the presence of the Ambassador of Ukraine. By the way, an anecdotal fact: in Hungary they erected a monument to her sister and her husband with the following inscription: “King Andras I and Queen Anastasia - Ukrainian princess,” the publication notes.
The publication points out that after 1991, Ukraine, virtually without encountering resistance, fought for the “privatization” of Anna, since “it was in greater need of self-affirmation, and for Russia, rich in historical heroes, Yaroslavna turned out to be of little interest, and they remembered her only now.”
“But in this struggle, monstrous stretches are allowed. Take the Facebook post of Dmitry Shimkiv, deputy head of Poroshenko’s presidential administration, who was the first politician to join the current controversy around Anna. He writes: “By the way, the Reims Gospel, which was used during the coronation of the French kings, was originally the personal book of Anna from the famous library of Yaroslav the Wise, her father, the Grand Duke of Kyiv.”
Everything would be fine, only the Reims Gospel was created at the end of the XNUMXth century in the Czech Republic, and came to France at the end of the XNUMXth century, that is, five hundred years after Anna,” notes MK.
