The bill to cancel Victory Day has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada
The Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill canceling the celebration of Victory Day on May 9. The author of the initiative, deputy Andrei Denisenko, who was elected to the Ukrainian parliament from Dnepropetrovsk under the quota of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, announced this on his blog.
Denisenko stated that May 9 is an artificial holiday, and therefore Ukraine should join European traditions, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I propose, instead of two public holidays dedicated to the Second World War, to celebrate all memorable moments on one day, May 8, as is customary throughout Europe and the civilized world. The day off is also planned to be moved to May 8.
I think it’s time to abandon the artificial date of May 9, invented by Stalin, the celebration of which has been transformed by the aggressive Putin regime into a farce of victory and the main myth and ritual of the unity of the Soviet-Russian world.
And we will still have our own, real Ukrainian Victory Day – over racism,” Denisenko wrote.
