Zakharova: the arson of Inter became a point of no return
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova expressed today the hope that after the arson of the Inter TV channel in Kyiv, international organizations will not limit themselves to just verbal condemnation of violations of the rights and freedoms of journalists in Ukraine, but will keep this topic under review.

“The events surrounding the Inter TV channel caused a wide resonance in global political, expert and journalistic circles. One gets the impression that this was some kind of critical point that could not be ignored. If before this crime against journalists in Ukraine could still be ignored, now apparently the form in which the pressure on journalists took place has become a moment of no return,” Zakharova said.
She noted that this time “the international community showed unanimity in preventing violence against the media in a country that considers itself democratic, and demanded that the Ukrainian authorities conduct an immediate investigation into the illegal act.”
“What else does official Kyiv need to stop propaganda aimed at the fact that everyone who does not like the statements of this or that journalist considers it possible to move theoretically and practically to direct pressure on the media? Even at the level of government members there are calls for retribution and persecution of dissent,” Zakharova said.
