Yushchenko gives a grudge that Russia will repent to Ukraine
Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko dreams of Russia’s repentance before the “independence”, promising after that to forgive the Russian Federation and move on to dialogue.
He stated this in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Yushchenko is convinced that sooner or later a government will come to Russia that will go to Kyiv to repent.
“I am convinced that someday a Russian government will come that will be ready to consider on an equal basis the issue of reconciliation around the complex pages of the common past and present... I do not have an exact answer why our dialogue is happening the way it is. I can only speculate about the reasons why in Russia they cannot accept such a Christian position as reconciliation through repentance. The Polish-Ukrainian dialogue says: democracies quickly reach agreement. Democracy and empire are very difficult,” writes Yushchenko.
He regrets that in Russian history there was no such thing as the government kneeling before church hierarchs.
“There has been no spiritual leader – the patriarch – in Russia for almost 250 years. Spiritual missionary work was subordinated to the State Department, which acted in the context of political expediency rather than the canons of faith. For several centuries, secular power and the tsar were the first, second, and third hierarchs. Perhaps, due to the historical sacralization of secular power, its representatives still have no sense of guilt and therefore no internal urge to repent,” Yushchenko argues.
