Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent . He noted that the explosions at the military depots in Kalinovka were, in any case, the result of negligence.
“If this happens for the fourth time in two years, this is negligence, for which there should be an appropriate punishment. Moreover, this is negligence that brought huge material costs to Ukraine, since several tens of billions of hryvnia worth of ammunition burned in these four warehouses. If we count in 2014 prices, then the budget of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has burned. And this despite the fact that we are begging for military assistance from other countries, saying that we lack a whole range of ammunition and need to build a cartridge factory,” the political scientist emphasized.
