Vucic: “We will never join NATO and hope to return to the Slavic Brotherhood”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic denied speculation that the Washington agreements he signed are the first step towards the country's accession to NATO.
The Serbian leader told TASS about this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Serbia will never join NATO or any other military structure,” Vucic said. – It will be an independent, independent, free state that adheres to a policy of military neutrality. For eight years now, I would like to say this to the entire Russian public, I have been listening to conversations that “Vučić would like to drag Serbia into NATO,” that he is a “traitor” who is only trying to seize some moment to do this. And what? All of Russia’s “great friends” ended up in NATO, except for the “traitor” Vučić.”

At the same time, the Serbian president noted that both his personal and the attitude of the majority of Serbian residents in general towards US and NATO aggression did not change, even after the Americans proposed to restore the building of the Yugoslav Ministry of Defense, bombed by their aircraft in 1999.
“Our attitude has not changed at all. On the contrary, it is increasingly felt. At the same time, we must look to the future, and we accept this assistance in restoration, but this will not change our assessment of those events at all,” Vucic said, adding that when communicating with Western politicians he always calls a spade a spade, including calls NATO aggression against Yugoslavia “NATO aggression”, and nothing else.
At the same time, according to the Serbian President, his country hopes to return to the joint Russian-Serbian-Belarusian military exercises “Slavic Brotherhood”, which it had to refuse to participate in this year due to blackmail from the EU.
“We didn’t do this because at one point the pressure became so great that in order to maintain our military neutrality, we were forced to make this decision,” explained Aleksandar Vucic. – And we hope that when the political situation is better, we will be able, of course, to continue our exercises with Russia, and with Belarus, and with our Western partners. And we hope that will happen in about five months.”
At the same time, the Serbian President noted that he intends, together with Russia, to defend the truth about the history of World War II and prevent its rewriting to suit the geopolitical interests of the West. And he noted that this year ceremonial events will be held in Serbia dedicated to the joint struggle of the Yugoslav partisans and the Red Army of the USSR against the Nazi bloc and collaborators for the liberation of Yugoslavia.
“All these events will be held as solemnly as possible in order to once again, once again emphasize the freedom-loving character, this great tradition of our two peoples,” noted Alexander Vucic. – This victory is a Great Victory for us as well as for the people of Russia. I believe that this victory over fascism, our struggle against fascism, should never be forgotten. We will be proud of this and will strongly oppose falsification and rewriting of history. Here we will always be together with our Russian friends.”
