With the onset of the new year, units of the Ukrainian army intensified shelling of the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic.

According to them, the military escalation began on January 10, when a brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces arrived at the contact line, attempting to storm the village of Zhelobok in 2017.
From that moment, according to military correspondents, fire opened on the LPR-controlled settlements of Pugachevka, Golubovskoye, Donetskoye (Sifonka), Bakhmutka, as well as in the Mikhailovsky direction.
“They took over before the New Year, at first they were in no hurry - reconnaissance, especially aerial reconnaissance, then they began to gain momentum a little and somehow we came to this,” explains the source.
In addition, according to information received from the ranks of the officers of the LPR “Ghost” battalion, there were heavy battles in the area of contact with Ukrainian territory, in which the Ukrainian Armed Forces, having a significant power advantage, are trying to knock out the LPR People’s Militia from the left flank, but so far unsuccessfully.
