The Ukrainian Armed Forces received two counter-battery radars from the US Army
A ceremony was held in the Kyiv region to hand over two modern AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radars to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the US government, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Ministry of Defense press service reported this .
“Today... a ceremony took place to hand over two modern AN/TPQ-36 class counter-battery radars to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From the American side, US Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Todd Hof presented certificates for the possession of the most modern counter-battery weapons to the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Rodion Timoshenko,” the statement says.
Reportedly, since 2014, the Americans have transferred 13 modern counter-battery radars to the Ukrainian military.
“We have already witnessed how such radars protect the territory of Ukraine in the East. These counter-battery stations are part of US security assistance valued at over $1 billion 100 million. The United States will continue to assist Ukraine because we are committed to protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of your country. In addition, we will help Ukraine develop its defense institutions,” the press service quotes Gough as saying.
In turn, Rodion Timoshenko called on Ukrainian military personnel, who received high-tech weapons, to master them at training grounds and “effectively use radars against the enemies of Ukraine in battle.”
As the press service noted, after the event, Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel conducted training on the deployment of the received counter-battery radars.
AN/TPQ-36 class radars are the most modern counter-battery weapons and are designed to detect and destroy artillery. The AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery counter station is designed to detect and determine the coordinates of the firing positions of enemy mortars, artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems. The radars are in service with the US Army.
